I kept a record of the serial number, so I do still have that. It wasn’t a physical copy, but one I bought online about five years ago. Is there a "safe" way to try to reinstall, such that if it fails I'll at least still have the crappy, minimally usable versions I currently have? Maybe I'll delete the programs, and then when I try to download them again, I'll get some error message saying "Oh, your serial number expired," or "We don't enable downloads of discontinued versions of our products" or whatever, or more likely it just won't work and there will be no explanation. I still have the serial number from five years ago or whenever I bought these, but I have no idea if reinstalling them will be possible. My concern, though, is that if I remove the programs and then seek to reinstall them and the installation fails (which there's a good chance of, given how everything I do with them now seems to go poorly), then I'll be even more screwed. I doubt that would help, but I figure there's at least some chance it would. So I was thinking, as one of the things to try, that I might reinstall them. Premiere and Encore have become horribly buggy for me, to the point that with Encore especially I'm spending more time figuring out workarounds than actually working on my projects, and indeed currently I've run into a brick wall with Encore and I don't know if I'll be able to ever use it successfully again.
